I really do need a way to scan 11x17" locally without internet contact. I would submit that while it may be the answer I find the answer to be unacceptable from a Cyber and Privacy perspective. The answer appears to be a politely worded "Suck it up Cupcake "

The "Scan" function of the "HP Smart App" will scan Tabloid without fuss. The issue is that this is a Tabloid (11x17") scanner. This issue is that this program will only scan Legal Size when you select "entire Glass". SO.I have also found a program called "HP Scan and Capture". WHY? I need a reliable alternative that does not require web access.
The HP Smart app itself seems to work.BUT for a simple scan it seems to want a log-in to a webservice. I seem to be directed to the HP Smart App. I see references to "HP print assistant" but I can't find a place to download it? It has a legal size sheet feeder and Tabloid (11x17) scanning glass. Apologies if there is a better place to pose this question.
